Cash sat nervously at the table, trying to determine the amount of people coming to the barbeque. So far he had a total of about thirty to forty people, all of them family. It amazed him. He was not used to seeing the large number on paper, as it was a normal occurrence to him and Cooper. He came from a large family of six children and three dads and one wonderful mother. He loved every minute of it, and it pained him to think of how Riley had no one to count on. He was determined to change that. He was never one who thought that much about falling in love, but meeting Riley and seeing the way she fit into his and Cooper’s lives so well made him want more out of life. He knew the CIA was coming to town soon, and wondered what was going to happen to his Riley when they got here. Would she leave? Would she stay? That was something he was going to have to address. No sooner did that thought pop in his head than the sound of gravel crunched as Cooper’s truck pulled into the drive with Riley. She looked so damn adorable as she hopped out of the truck and ran across the front of the truck to grab Coop’s hand like she had been doing it for years. Only then did it occur to him that she had been the missing piece that he and Cooper never realized was missing.

He loved to watch her laugh and throw her head back with such force when she was busting at the seams or her cute little giggle when she was playing in bed with them. She had her sweet smile when she was smiling at everyone, her excited smile, her shy smile, and the one that really got to him, her “come and get me” smile. It seemed he noticed a lot about her that he never would have noticed much on other women before her. He was going to do everything in his power to try to keep her with them. Love was the word that crossed his mind, but was it too soon? Not to him, but maybe to her. He would keep it to himself until he found out how she felt and this situation was taken care of first.

Just as those thoughts crossed his mind, she bounded into the house and wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. “Hey, kitten, good day at work I take it?” he said as he shifted and placed her so she was now sitting on his lap. She bounced up and down like a child when she spoke about what she did and how she heard about old man Winters and his Bigfoot stories. She thought it was the funniest thing, but thought that maybe he was just lonely and made the stories up. However, Cash knew the truth and it was that the old man was a few beers short of a six-pack.
